Well you have seen the outside of my house in my introductory blog, but if you need an update control-f "smurf," but here is your first glimpse of the inside. I recently have been spending a lot of time in Williston, North Dakota for work. Since I stayed, and worked a few weekends up there I got to put in some good overtime hours. As a reward to myself I went out and bought living room furniture. This was a big event because I am typically cheap, and have to deliberate over any purchase (especially something huge like a living room set). But, I decided what the heck, and went out and ordered it! Well I ended up loving how it turned out, but I had a lot of wall space to cover in order to give my living room that finished look. Last weekend while going to Tuesday Morning and I happened upon a beautiful little interior design store called Twigs (http://www.twigsinteriordesign.com/). They were having a sidewalk sale of some fabulous items and I saw and fell in love with this orange mirror below...unfortunately my love did not extend to the price tag...it was just to expensive for my cost-conscious self. However, they had a time set aside the next day for negotiating the price so I kept my fingers crossed and showed up the next day.
As I was driving up I noticed: 1) my mirror was still there and 2) the store owner was marking on the tag. I walked up and they had marked it down another $250. It took me about two seconds to say I would take it. I won't tell my purchase price but I got it on super sale, and it is one thing in my house that I love. The mirror was done by a company that does architectural reclamations (http://www.oldegoodthings.com/). The tin tiles were rescued from a 1900's church ceiling undergoing renovations. The story about the church and a picture of the church are on the back. This uniqueness and history is one of the reasons I love this mirror! I know everyone won't think its beautiful but "to each his own!" Enjoy my new church mirror and God Bless! P.S. please ignore my ugly white lamp and the undecorated mantle in the picture...its a work in progress! Also, stay tuned for next week...Luke and I are going camping this weekend for the first time!
