A Wonderful Gift

If you know me, you know I love Christmas! Its my favorite holiday followed closely by Easter. I start humming O Come All Ye Faithful mid September, and my present purchasing plan/budget is solid by November 1. I only wished that my family and I lived closer because I would be hosting Christmas at my house with all our traditional food (and the traditional poker game) in a heartbeat! I will admit its November 17th and I have already watched "The Nativity Story" twice (although I fast-forwarded through Herod and watched only the best parts). But it's not just the decorations, songs, movies, food, gifts and family, but really the true reason behind the celebration of Christmas that gets me pumped up for the arrival of December 25th. Christmas is a celebration of the arrival of Jesus - what an awesome gift! Nothing before or since can compare to the gift of that baby, and the true joy in Him, is that unlike anything you will find wrapped under the tree the gift of Jesus is free! This is good news at any time in your life, but especially in these harsh economic times. So as I prepare for my Christmas blitz I often like to remind myself why this is such an important and special time of year - I am celebrating the opportunity for my own forgiveness given by God through Jesus. So, in preparing for this holiday season give thanks to Him who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave the greatest gift through His birth, death and resurrection! God Bless!
